Telangana Govt Must End Double Standards on HYDRAA Actions, Says Union Minister Bandi Sanjay

Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar has sharply criticised the Telangana government over its handling of lake encroachments and Full Tank Level ( FTL ) regulations, alleging that the Congress administration is following a double standard in the enforcement of laws related to water bodies.

Targeting the government's actions under the HYDRAA initiative, Bandi Sanjay questioned why authorities were taking stringent action against the homes of ordinary citizens while allegedly ignoring what he described as visible encroachments by influential institutions. He specifically referred to the controversy surrounding Owaisi College , claiming that the institution was built on lake land and asking why the government had not taken action in that case.

According to the Union Minister, the government's approach has raised serious concerns among the public about whether rules are being applied equally to everyone. He alleged that the administration was acting selectively and that there was a growing perception that FTL boundaries were being altered or interpreted differently to suit political interests and protect certain groups.

Bandi Sanjay stressed that the law must be implemented uniformly , regardless of a person's political connections, social status or influence. Environmental protection, lake conservation and encroachment removal drives, he said, can succeed only when the government demonstrates fairness, transparency and consistency in its actions.

The BJP leader also took a swipe at Congress leaders, sarcastically suggesting that they might have a vision problem if they were unable to identify what he called an obvious encroachment. He urged BJP workers to organise free eye-care camps for Congress leaders, claiming that everyone could see the issue except the state government.

Continuing his criticism, Bandi Sanjay remarked that if Congress leaders were still unable to notice the alleged encroachment even after eye examinations, the problem would not be with their eyesight but with their politics. He demanded that the Telangana government immediately abandon what he called its selective and discriminatory approach and ensure that laws governing lakes and FTL limits are enforced equally in every case.
