Telangana Introduces New Security Paper for MeeSeva Certificates with 15 Safety Features
The Telangana government has introduced a new security paper with 15 advanced safety features for certificates issued through MeeSeva centres, strengthening efforts to prevent forgery and unauthorised duplication of official documents. IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu launched the upgraded paper on Tuesday, marking a new step towards improving the security and durability of government-issued certificates.
The new paper has been developed using specialised technology to withstand common forms of damage, including tearing, exposure to water and wear caused by frequent handling. It is also designed to resist deterioration resulting from repeated folding and prolonged storage. These features are expected to help preserve the quality of certificates and ensure that they remain usable for several years.
The government has not disclosed the specific details of the 15 security features, citing security considerations. However, the additional safeguards are intended to make it more difficult to produce counterfeit certificates or create unauthorised copies of genuine documents. The initiative is expected to strengthen public confidence in certificates issued through the state's service delivery network.
Another key advantage of the upgraded paper is its durability, which could reduce the need for lamination under normal conditions. Citizens often need to preserve important certificates for long periods for educational admissions, employment opportunities and other official requirements. The new paper is expected to make long-term document preservation easier while reducing concerns about damage during everyday handling.
Speaking at the launch, Sridhar Babu highlighted the importance of government certificates in people's lives. Documents such as birth and death certificates, educational records and employment-related certificates are essential for accessing various services and establishing official credentials. Many of these documents must be preserved for decades, sometimes throughout a person's lifetime. Ensuring their security, reliability and durability is therefore a key responsibility of the government, he said.
The minister said Telangana was adopting modern technology to improve public services, with a focus on security, quality and convenience. The new security paper is expected to serve these objectives by protecting official records against forgery while extending the lifespan of printed certificates.
According to an official statement, Telangana has been using dedicated security paper for printing MeeSeva certificates since 2011. The latest upgrade builds on this existing system, introducing enhanced protection to safeguard important documents issued through MeeSeva centres across the state.
