Telangana, Japan’s Hiroshima Explore Investment and Industrial Cooperation
Telangana is looking to strengthen its economic engagement with Japan’s Hiroshima region by exploring opportunities in investment, industrial development, skill training and employment generation. Discussions between state government officials and Hiroshima representatives focused on building partnerships that could attract fresh investments, support industrial expansion and equip young people with skills required by emerging industries.
Sanjay Jaju, Telangana Chief Secretary, met the Hiroshima delegation at the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat. State Labour and Employment Minister Dr Vivek Venkataswamy delivered the opening remarks. During the interaction, Jaju outlined Telangana’s investment potential and the government’s plans to accelerate industrial development through infrastructure expansion, new projects and workforce training initiatives.
Jaju highlighted several major initiatives being pursued by the state, including the CURE, PURE and RARE development programmes, the Outer Ring Road (ORR), Bharat Future City, data centre projects and the Young India Skills University. These initiatives reflect the state’s efforts to strengthen infrastructure, attract businesses and develop a skilled workforce to meet the changing requirements of the industrial and technology sectors.
The state government also shared its long-term economic vision of transforming Telangana into a $3 trillion economy by 2047. Achieving this target would require sustained investment, industrial diversification and stronger partnerships with international stakeholders. The discussions underlined the importance of linking investment promotion with skill development and employment creation so that economic growth can generate opportunities for the local workforce.
Closer cooperation with Hiroshima could provide a platform for exploring areas of mutual interest in industrial growth, investment and vocational training. The discussions focused on identifying potential avenues for collaboration, with no specific investment commitments detailed in the information provided.
The Telangana government invited the Hiroshima delegation to participate in the Invest Telangana programme during the Telangana Global Summit, scheduled for December 7–9, 2026. The event is expected to provide a platform for stakeholders to explore investment opportunities and strengthen business partnerships.
Through the proposed engagement, Telangana aims to expand its international economic connections and identify potential avenues for collaboration with Hiroshima. The summit could offer both sides an opportunity to discuss practical initiatives that support industrial development, workforce skills and employment generation.
