Telangana Marks 12th International Yoga Day With Large-Scale Participation Across State

The 12th International Yoga Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm across Telangana on Sunday, with ministers, public representatives and thousands of citizens taking part in mass yoga sessions held at multiple locations.

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar participated in the celebrations in Karimnagar, where he performed yoga alongside participants. He highlighted yoga’s global recognition as a gift from India and stressed that regular practice is an effective way to manage stress, anxiety and lifestyle-related health issues . He also urged people to make yoga a part of their daily routine.

At the state level, Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha joined the main event organised at Gachibowli Stadium by the Telangana government in coordination with the AYUSH department. He took part in yoga demonstrations and reiterated that yoga is a “priceless contribution” from India to the world . He said the state is working towards building a healthy society by promoting awareness from schools to colleges and expanding yoga training through AYUSH initiatives.

BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar also attended separate programmes as part of the statewide celebrations, where yoga sessions were conducted in public spaces and institutions.

Extending greetings on the occasion, Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy highlighted yoga as part of India’s ancient heritage and its relevance in modern life. The Chief Minister described yoga as more than physical exercise, calling it a way of life in his social media message.

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy noted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, yoga has evolved into a global movement . He said this year’s theme, “One Earth, One Health,” reflects the importance of collective well-being through regular practice.

Across Telangana, schools, public grounds and tourist locations witnessed widespread participation, with students and citizens performing various asanas in large numbers, marking the day with strong community engagement.
