Telangana Partners with AWS to Train One Lakh Students in AI, Cloud Computing
At least one lakh students across Telangana will receive free training in emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), cloud computing and machine learning under a new initiative jointly undertaken by the Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge (TASK) and Amazon Web Services (AWS). The two organisations have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen the technical capabilities of students and prepare them for the growing demands of the technology industry. The programme will cover students from 643 TASK-affiliated colleges across the state.
The initiative is designed to provide students with exposure to some of the fastest-growing areas of the digital economy. The training curriculum will include Artificial Intelligence, cloud computing, data engineering, machine learning and generative AI. Through a combination of structured learning and practical exercises, participants will gain an understanding of how these technologies are applied in real-world business and industrial environments.
Students will also receive one-year free access to more than 900 digital courses available on the AWS Skill Builder platform. This will allow them to explore additional subjects, strengthen their technical knowledge and learn at their own pace. The provision of hands-on training is expected to help participants move beyond theoretical understanding and develop skills relevant to industry requirements.
The programme will not be restricted to students pursuing science and engineering courses. Special learning pathways will be developed for those from non-STEM backgrounds, ensuring that students across different academic disciplines can benefit from emerging technology education. This approach is intended to broaden access to digital skills and create opportunities for students irrespective of their educational specialisation.
The partnership will also facilitate international certification opportunities, interactions with industry experts and participation in hackathons. These activities are expected to give students practical exposure, encourage innovation and help them understand changing workplace expectations. Faculty development programmes will also be conducted to equip college teachers with knowledge of emerging technologies and improve their ability to deliver relevant training.
