The Telangana government is planning a 4.3-km, six-lane integrated steel flyover around Kasu Brahmananda Reddy (KBR) Park to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity across key junctions in Hyderabad. The proposed project, estimated to cost ₹1,090 crore, will connect Jubilee Hills Check Post Junction with NFCFL Junction and be executed in two packages.

On Friday, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar inspected the one-way traffic arrangements around KBR Park along with GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan, Hyderabad District Collector Priyanka Ala and other officials. He reviewed vehicle movement, congestion at major junctions and the effectiveness of the one-way system.

The government had earlier proposed underpasses, flyovers and grade separators to address traffic problems in the area. However, following the implementation of one-way traffic arrangements and public representations, it decided to reconsider the earlier proposals. Pending court cases related to permissions for tree removal have also contributed to delays in construction, prompting officials to explore a revised plan.

The first package, estimated at ₹580 crore, will cover the stretch from Jubilee Hills Check Post Junction to Mugdha Junction. The second package, costing around ₹510 crore, will extend from Mugdha Junction to Mufakham Jah College and include a dedicated connecting ramp to Banjara Hills Road No. 1.

The six-lane corridor will accommodate traffic in both directions, with plans to facilitate signal-free movement at five major junctions. Reducing congestion between NFCFL Junction and the KBR Park entrance is a key priority.

The government aims to protect the park's green cover while accelerating construction through modular steel technology. Measures will also be taken to minimise traffic disruptions during the construction period.

The revised plan is expected to save around ₹800 crore in land acquisition costs and ₹400 crore in construction expenses, potentially bringing total savings to ₹1,200 crore. The government hopes the integrated corridor will improve traffic flow while reducing environmental impact and inconvenience to commuters.
