Telangana Plans ₹9.08 Crore Security Upgrade at CM Revanth Reddy’s Camp Office
The Telangana government has initiated a major security and infrastructure upgrade at the Dr. Marri Channa Reddy Human Resource Development Institute campus in Jubilee Hills , which Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has been using as his camp office . The government has invited tenders for the project, estimated at ₹9.08 crore , aiming to enhance safety measures and align the facility with high-security standards required for venues hosting top-level governance meetings.
The proposed works include construction of watchtowers , strengthening of perimeter walls with concertina wire , improved access control systems, and infrastructure improvements around key entry points and VVIP guest facilities. Officials note that locations frequently used by the Chief Minister are treated as high-security zones, with protocols shaped by intelligence inputs, threat assessments, and evolving security requirements.
In recent months, the MCR HRD campus has hosted high-level reviews, administrative consultations, and policy meetings. Security planners say elevated watchtowers will enable surveillance from vantage points to detect suspicious activity early, while reinforced boundary protection will help prevent unauthorized entry. The presence of VVIP accommodation and major meeting venues within the same complex further strengthens the case for enhanced protection standards comparable to those followed at central government facilities.
Established in 1976 , the institute is Telangana’s premier administrative training centre, known for capacity-building programmes for government employees through classroom and digital learning systems. Its growing use as a governance hub reflects the evolving operational needs of the state administration.
The move has triggered public debate, with some questioning whether additional spending is necessary when security personnel and CCTV systems already exist. Others argue that upgrades for facilities used by top constitutional authorities are guided by professional threat assessments and protocol requirements rather than routine administrative decisions.
The initiative comes alongside a broader push to accelerate Hyderabad ’s growth. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka recently announced a ₹20,000 crore allocation for the city’s development over the next two years, prioritizing water supply, sewerage expansion, metropolitan infrastructure, and civic improvements across GHMC limits.
He also described the merger of 27 municipalities into the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation as a historic step toward integrated planning, uniform civic services, and coordinated development across the Outer Ring Road region.
Hyderabad’s transformation into one of India’s fastest-growing and investment-friendly cities reflects sustained public investment, institutional reforms, and long-term urban planning. The proposed upgrades and development push highlight the government’s focus on administrative efficiency, public safety, and strategic metropolitan growth.
