Telangana Sanctions ₹99.40 Crore More for Vemulawada Rajarajeshwara Temple Development

The Telangana Government has sanctioned an additional ₹99.40 crore for the expansion and comprehensive development of the Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Temple at Vemulawada in Rajanna Sircilla district, one of the state's most revered pilgrimage centres popularly known as "Dakshina Kashi." The government issued the order on Saturday, taking the total financial assistance released for the temple's redevelopment to ₹249.40 crore.

The latest allocation comes as part of the government's ongoing initiative to modernize the historic temple and improve facilities for the thousands of devotees who visit the shrine every year. According to the government, the redevelopment project is progressing under the special initiative of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, with a focus on preserving the temple's spiritual significance while upgrading its infrastructure.

The state had earlier sanctioned ₹50 crore during the 2023-24 financial year and ₹100 crore in the 2024-25 State Budget for the project. With the fresh release of ₹99.40 crore, officials expect the remaining works to gather further momentum and be completed at a faster pace.

The redevelopment plan includes improving the temple surroundings, expanding public infrastructure, providing modern amenities for pilgrims, and strengthening civic and visitor facilities. These measures are aimed at enhancing the overall pilgrimage experience and accommodating the increasing number of devotees visiting the temple throughout the year.

Officials said that around 45% of the works taken up under the earlier ₹150 crore allocation have already been completed. The newly sanctioned funds will be used to expedite the remaining development works and ensure timely completion of the overall master plan.

State Government Whip Aadi Srinivas said the Chief Minister had taken a personal interest in the temple's development. He also thanked Ministers Konda Surekha, Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Ponnam Prabhakar, and Adluri Laxman Kumar for their support in securing the additional funds.

The fresh allocation has been welcomed by devotees, who believe the accelerated development works will transform Vemulawada Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Temple into a more accessible and well-equipped pilgrimage destination while preserving its rich religious heritage.
