Telangana To Turn MeeSeva Centres Into Digital Marketing Hubs
Telangana is set to give its extensive MeeSeva network a new role by transforming centres across the state into digital marketing hubs for local businesses and small entrepreneurs, IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu said.
The initiative is being expanded under the MeeSeva–Meta partnership, aimed at helping small businesses access digital promotion, social media advertising and other online marketing tools. The move is expected to create new opportunities for local traders, skilled professionals and micro-enterprises to reach wider customer bases.
More than 140 MeeSeva Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) from different districts participated in the second phase of a digital marketing training programme held at the Sheraton Hotel in Gachibowli on Wednesday. The participants were trained in digital marketing, social media advertising and business promotion, with the objective of developing them into “digital business ambassadors” capable of supporting businesses in their communities.
Addressing the programme, Sridhar Babu said Telangana had consistently remained at the forefront of adopting new technologies and had earned recognition for delivering efficient citizen services. With more than 5,000 MeeSeva centres operating across the state, he said the network could serve as a powerful platform for extending digital marketing support to sweet shops, textile stores, skilled artisans and other small businesses.
The minister said MeeSeva centres should evolve beyond their traditional role as citizen-service points and become platforms that promote digital awareness, create income opportunities and support entrepreneurship. He added that the government was open to new ideas, services and business models that could raise household incomes and contribute to economic growth.
The programme was initially launched as a pilot project in the GHMC/CURE jurisdiction of Hyderabad, where around 120 VLEs received training in digital marketing and social media advertising.
Following the pilot, the initiative is now being expanded statewide. An MoU between Electronic Service Delivery (ESD), the IT and Industries Department, and Meta was signed in the presence of the minister to facilitate the wider rollout.
MeeSeva Commissioner and ESD official T. Ravi Kiran, IFS, Meta Managing Director and Country Head Arun Srinivas, Strategic Programmes and Partnerships Head Divya Khemani Vadhera, and Media, Travel and Services Ecosystem Vertical Head Rishad Chindam were among those present.
