Telangana Youth’s Heroic Rescue Ends in Tragedy, Leaves Lasting Legacy

Telangana paid an emotional tribute to Anuroop Reddy , the 23-year-old who lost his life while rescuing three friends from drowning in the United States, as his mortal remains were brought to his native Kavadipalli village in Rangareddy district .

The arrival of Anuroop's body drew family members, villagers, public representatives, and well-wishers, all of whom gathered to pay their last respects to the young man whose final act of courage saved three lives. The tragedy has resonated across Telangana, with many hailing him as a symbol of selflessness, bravery, and humanity .

Acting on the directions of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy , MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy , accompanied by several legislators, visited Anuroop's residence and paid floral tributes. The leaders also met the grieving family and conveyed the Chief Minister's condolences.

Speaking on the occasion, Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy said Anuroop's sacrifice would remain etched in public memory for years to come. He noted that while the young man's life was cut short at just 23, the lives he saved stand as a lasting reminder of his extraordinary courage. Calling his death an irreparable loss to the state, the MP said Anuroop's actions reflected the highest values of friendship and compassion.

A condolence letter sent by the Chief Minister was handed over to the family. In his message, Revanth Reddy described the incident as deeply heartbreaking and paid tribute to the young Telangana native who laid down his life while trying to save others.

The Chief Minister extended his sympathies to Anuroop's parents, his brother Ashrith Reddy , and other family members on behalf of the state government and the people of Telangana. He also assured them that the government would stand firmly by the family during this difficult period and provide all possible support.

Recalling the incident, Revanth Reddy said the news of Anuroop's death at Toro Bayou Park in Louisiana on May 29, 2026 , had come as a profound shock. He observed that despite having a promising future ahead of him, the young man displayed remarkable courage and a rare sense of responsibility in a moment of crisis.

According to the Chief Minister, Anuroop did not hesitate when he saw his three friends struggling in the water. He immediately jumped in and succeeded in bringing them to safety. While his heroic intervention saved their lives, he tragically lost his own during the rescue effort.

Describing the act as one of exceptional bravery, Revanth Reddy said Anuroop's compassion, courage, and willingness to put others before himself reflected the finest human values.
