Movement remained restricted in parts of Jagatpura area on Tuesday as the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) continued clearing debris following the demolition of five religious structures during a road-widening drive, an operation that has triggered local unease and social tension in the locality .

The demolition exercise, carried out on Monday amid heavy police deployment and tight security , removed structures including a mosque, two temples, a satsang building and a mazar , all of which authorities said were located within the marked road boundary along a stretch running parallel to a railway line.

While officials maintained that the drive was part of an approved infrastructure widening project, the action led to heightened tension in the surrounding areas , prompting authorities to impose movement restrictions and closely monitor the locality.

On Tuesday, JDA teams, assisted by police personnel, continued debris clearance using JCB machines and dumpers . Officials said only local residents with identity verification were allowed entry into the area, while outsiders were barred until the operation was completed.

An official from the JDA enforcement wing said the clearance work was progressing steadily and was expected to be completed by the evening, after which the road would be reopened for regular traffic movement. Security forces continued to remain deployed to maintain law and order and prevent any escalation.

As a precautionary measure during Monday’s demolition, mobile internet services were temporarily suspended in parts of Jaipur to prevent the spread of rumours. The services were restored late Monday night after the operation concluded peacefully, though the brief shutdown disrupted daily activities across the city.

Several residents and businesses reported significant inconvenience due to the internet suspension. Cab operators said bookings dropped sharply , while small businesses dependent on digital payments also suffered losses. Affected traders noted that most transactions today are cashless, and the outage directly impacted their earnings.

Despite the operational completion of the demolition phase, authorities remain on alert as debris clearance continues, with the situation being closely monitored to ensure that law and order is maintained and no further unrest develops in the area.
