Texas Shooter Dies After Standoff, One Killed, Several Injured in Midland Attack

A gunman who opened fire in the West Texas city of Midland died on Friday following a tense standoff with law enforcement, bringing an end to an attack that left one person dead and at least nine others injured , according to local authorities.

The shooting unfolded across multiple locations in Midland before culminating near a veterinary hospital and surrounding businesses. Police confirmed that the active shooter situation had ended, though officials did not immediately disclose how the suspect died.

Midland Mayor Lori Blong said authorities used robot and drone surveillance footage to verify that the gunman was deceased. Witness Andrea Mendias, who works near the scene, said she heard what sounded like a small explosion at a closed veterinary clinic and later observed officers rushing into the area.
