The Telangana government is set to upgrade the state’s road network to international standards. Under this initiative, road construction will be carried out using a Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM). The government announced that tenders for these prestigious projects will be invited on Thursday, October 22.

The Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department will oversee the construction works. Following approval in the recent cabinet meeting, the government has issued a Government Order (GO) for the projects. According to the GO, a total of 5,566.15 kilometers of roads are slated for construction at an estimated cost of ₹10,547.38 crore.

Work to be executed in 32 packages

The projects will be implemented across the state in multiple phases. The R&B Department has divided the works into 32 packages, with the first phase of tender notifications set to be completed soon.

R&B Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said the government is committed to providing world-class infrastructure and efficient connectivity. He expressed confidence that Telangana’s roads would soon serve as a model for the rest of the country.

The HAM approach is expected to ensure long-term quality and maintenance of the roads. According to the minister, the ambitious project will boost the state’s economic development and improve transportation facilities. Both urban and rural roads will be upgraded to international standards, facilitating smoother travel, enhancing trade, and promoting industrial growth.

Minister Komatireddy added that the government is working towards transforming Telangana into a model state for road infrastructure through safe, hassle-free, and world-class roads.
