Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) Chairman and Managing Director Jitesh V. Patil has directed officials to complete all preparations for agricultural electricity supply ahead of the upcoming Rabi season, stressing the need to ensure reliable power and prevent disruptions during the crucial cultivation period. He issued the instructions during a field visit to Bibinagar and surrounding areas of Valigonda in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district on Wednesday.

During the visit, Patil interacted with farmers to assess their electricity requirements, paddy cultivation conditions and the use of agricultural borewells. He sought feedback on the quality of power supply and inspected borewells of different capacities to understand the challenges faced by farmers. He also checked readings using tongue testers at borewell sites and directed officials to address the issues identified during the inspection without delay.

The CMD emphasised that preparedness of power infrastructure would be essential to meeting agricultural demand during the Rabi season. He instructed field officials to inspect agricultural feeders, distribution transformers and other electricity infrastructure well in advance and identify potential problems that could lead to supply interruptions.

Patil also called for completing scheduled maintenance works before the season begins. He stressed that officials must maintain regular contact with farmers, respond promptly to complaints and ensure that electricity services remain dependable throughout the cultivation period.

Apart from power supply, the CMD highlighted the importance of water-efficient agricultural practices. Considering groundwater availability and rainfall patterns, he asked officials to create awareness among farmers about choosing crops suited to local conditions. He recommended coordinated initiatives with relevant departments to promote low-water crops, millets, fodder cultivation and vegetables appropriate for the region's climate.

He further stressed the need to educate farmers on the judicious use of available water resources and encourage sustainable crop planning. Patil said field-level electricity personnel must remain accessible to farmers, understand their requirements and work responsibly to address their concerns.

TGSPDCL Director (Operations) Dr N. Narasimhulu, Rural Zone Chief Engineer Balaswamy, District Superintending Engineer K. Suresh and Bhongir Divisional Engineer Sangem Venkateshwarlu participated in the inspection. Several divisional engineers, assistant divisional engineers, assistant engineers and other field staff also accompanied the CMD during the visit.
