The ‘Rolex’ Return Is Near? Lokesh’s Biggest Plan For Suriya 50
Suriya’s landmark 50th film could be turning into one of the most anticipated projects in South Indian cinema, with filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj reportedly set to direct the actor in a standalone film centred on his much-loved character Rolex.
According to the latest reports, Suriya has finalised the directors for his upcoming projects, with Lokesh being lined up for the milestone 50th outing. The project is said to be the long-discussed Rolex film, which has been generating excitement ever since the character’s explosive introduction in Vikram.
Suriya’s brief appearance as Rolex in the Kamal Haasan-starrer made an immediate impact. Despite having only a short screen presence, the character’s menacing personality, distinctive styling and powerful background score turned him into one of the most talked-about elements of the film. Fans have since been demanding a full-length story exploring the ruthless gangster.
Interestingly, the idea of a standalone Rolex film has been around for several years. Both Suriya and Lokesh have previously expressed interest in taking the character forward, but the collaboration did not materialise immediately. Now, the project appears to be moving closer to reality, potentially giving Suriya an explosive film for his 50th milestone.
Suriya is also progressing with his 49th film, which is expected to be directed by H Vinoth. Reports suggest that the project could feature Wamiqa Gabbi and Sai Abhyankar, while Anirudh Ravichander is being discussed as the music composer for Suriya 50.
For Lokesh, the Rolex project could arrive after his upcoming commitments, with Kaithi 2 also expected to be part of his future lineup.
An official announcement regarding Suriya 50 is expected soon. If the reports prove true, the return of Rolex in a full-fledged Lokesh Kanagaraj film could become a major cinematic event for fans of the filmmaker and Suriya alike.
