'This Time, It's Not Love': Tabu and Nagarjuna Promise a Fiery Face-Off in 'King 100'
Actress Tabu has unveiled a powerful new side of her screen presence as Mahanthi Jhansi Rani in 'King 100', Nagarjuna Akkineni's landmark 100th film. The makers released a special glimpse on Wednesday to mark her birthday, introducing her as an influential political figure and hinting at an intense confrontation with Nagarjuna's character.
The promotional video presents Tabu as a commanding personality from a royal family who has entered politics. One of its notable moments shows her taking an oath of office, highlighting her position and authority. She also delivers a striking dialogue about hard work and luck: "There are two kinds of people in this world: those who believe in hard work and those who believe in luck. I hate luck!" The statement reflects her strong-willed nature and uncompromising attitude.
The glimpse features Tabu in a red sari, accompanied by visuals that build an atmosphere of power and conflict. A bangle-adorned hand and the tagline 'THE WAR BEGINS' further suggest a dramatic face-off between the principal characters.
The film also marks the reunion of Nagarjuna and Tabu after nearly three decades. The actors previously shared screen space in films such as 'Ninne Pelladatha' and 'Aavida Maa Aavide'. Wishing Tabu on her birthday, Nagarjuna recalled her memorable character Pandu from 'Ninne Pelladatha' and said audiences would now remember her as Mahanthi Jhansi Rani. He added, "You made this film so special. This time, it's not love."
Earlier, the makers introduced Nagarjuna's character as a man who rises from poverty to immense wealth and power. His first glimpse hinted at money, gambling, a massive financial scam and emotional father-daughter elements.
Directed by Ra Karthik, 'King 100' features music by Devi Sri Prasad and cinematography by Raja Mahadhevan. The film also stars Aishwarya Rajesh, Ashok Selvan, Sushmitha Bhat and Ravindra Vijay.
Produced by Annapurna Studios, the film is scheduled to arrive in theatres on December 24, 2026.
