Three Arrested as J&K Police Bust Alleged LeT OGW Network in Rajouri

Jammu and Kashmir Police has busted an alleged Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT)-linked overground worker (OGW) network in Rajouri with the arrest of three persons, an official said.

Zakir Hussain and Mohd Azam, both from Kotcharwal Teryath in Rajouri, and Mohd Mushtaq of Udhan village in the district were arrested during the investigation of a terror module active in the Pir Panjal region, a police spokesman said.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused were allegedly involved in providing logistical support, safe transit and other ground-level assistance to terrorists, the spokesman said.

The accused allegedly also acted as guides and facilitated the movement of terrorist groups towards the Kashmir Valley, according to the police.

The spokesman said the three arrested persons are also suspected of having provided ground support to terrorists linked with multiple high-profile attacks, including an attack targeting civilians.

During the investigation, an improvised explosive device (IED) was recovered on the disclosure of one of the accused, the police said.

Preliminary findings indicate that the device had allegedly been handed over to the accused by members of a terrorist group for safe custody and its possible use in a targeted attack, the spokesman said.

Police have not disclosed further details about the suspected attacks or the possible target of the IED.

The investigation is continuing to establish the complete network, identify additional associates and ascertain the full extent of the accused persons' alleged involvement, the spokesman said.

The probe is also aimed at determining the links between the arrested persons and terrorist groups and examining the support allegedly provided to facilitate the movement of terrorists in the region.

The police are examining the alleged role of the arrested persons in the terror module and the circumstances surrounding the recovery of the IED.

Further details are expected as the investigation progresses and police work to identify other persons allegedly connected with the network.Police are working to ascertain the full extent of the network, the spokesman said.
