Tilak Varma Tunes Up For Ireland And England Tour With Blistering 136 In TG20

India vice-captain Tilak Varma delivered a timely reminder of his explosive batting prowess ahead of the upcoming T20I tours of Ireland and England, smashing an unbeaten 136 off just 56 balls to guide Medak Falcons to a remarkable three-wicket victory over Warangal Warriors in the Telangana-based TG20 League .

The inaugural TG20, a franchise tournament launched by the Hyderabad Cricket Association to promote cricketing talent across Telangana, has attracted several leading players from the state, including international stars and promising youngsters. Tilak, one of the league's marquee signings, made his lone appearance in the competition before departing to join the Indian squad for the Ireland series beginning on June 26.

Chasing a daunting 259-run target , Medak Falcons got off to a flying start with Tilak ensuring his side kept pace with the required rate. The left-hander raced to his fifty in just 22 balls and helped the Falcons cross the 100-run mark inside eight overs.

With the chase still requiring 65 runs from the final five overs, Tilak shifted gears again, bringing up a breathtaking century in only 42 deliveries . He then stitched together a crucial 58-run partnership with Vikram (27) to keep the Falcons firmly in contention.

Although Vikram fell in the penultimate over with 20 runs still needed, Tilak remained unbeaten and calmly steered his side home. His sensational knock featured 14 fours and eight sixes .

Earlier, Warangal Warriors captain Aman Rao Perala had produced an innings of equal brilliance, hammering 142 off 48 balls , including a stunning 32-ball century , to propel his team to a massive total of 259.

Tilak's match-winning effort not only secured a memorable victory for Medak Falcons but also provided the perfect preparation ahead of India's white-ball assignments in Ireland and England.
