Tirupati will host the national conference of Directors General of Police (DGPs) and Inspectors General of Police (IGPs) from December 4 to 6, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah expected to attend. The three-day event will be held at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Tirupati, bringing together senior police and security officials from across the country.

With preparations gaining momentum, Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad chaired an inter-departmental coordination committee meeting at the State Secretariat on Monday to review the arrangements. He directed officials from the concerned departments to begin preparations well in advance and ensure that all essential facilities are in place before the conference.

The gathering is expected to see participation from DGPs and IGPs representing various states and Union Territories, alongside senior officials from central security agencies. According to the Chief Secretary, more than 200 IPS officers and approximately 200 Intelligence Bureau (IB) officials are expected to attend. Representatives of state and central armed police forces, the National Security Adviser (NSA) and senior officials from the Union Home Ministry will also participate.

Given the Prime Minister's likely presence during the first two days, Sai Prasad stressed the need for meticulous planning and comprehensive security and logistical arrangements. He instructed officials to improve civic amenities and undertake beautification works across Tirupati to enhance the city's readiness to host the national-level gathering.

Reliable connectivity at the conference venue was another key priority. The Chief Secretary asked the Information Technology Department to arrange a dedicated tower to prevent network disruptions and ensure seamless communication throughout the event.

Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta, who joined the meeting virtually, proposed holding coordination committee meetings every 15 days to track the progress of preparations and address any issues promptly. He emphasised that all senior officials on the committee should remain actively involved in coordinating their respective departments' responsibilities.

Additional DGP Madhusudan Reddy, Home Department Principal Secretary Kumar Vishwajit, General Administration Department Principal Secretary J. Shyamala Rao, Health Department Commissioner Chakradhar Babu, SIB Deputy Director Ambika and IG Kanti Rana Tata attended the meeting.

TTD Executive Officer M. Ravichandra, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department Principal Secretary S. Suresh Kumar, Roads and Buildings Department Secretary K. Shashidhar, Tirupati Collector Dr. Venkateswar, the district Superintendent of Police and other senior officials participated virtually.
