TN CM To Launch Singappen Special Force For Women And Child Protection
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay will launch the Singappen Special Force on Tuesday evening, marking a significant step towards strengthening the safety and security of women and children across the state.
The newly created force is a dedicated police unit designed to enhance protection mechanisms through continuous monitoring, increased patrolling and proactive intervention in areas identified as vulnerable. According to the state government, the initiative aims to create a safer environment by improving police presence in public spaces and addressing security concerns before they escalate.
One of the key objectives of the Singappen Special Force is to conduct regular monitoring and patrolling of public places , particularly locations where women and children may face safety risks. The unit will also identify vulnerable spots and take remedial measures to improve security and prevent incidents of harassment and other offences.
Officials said the force would play an important role in ensuring greater police visibility , which is expected to boost public confidence and act as a deterrent against crimes targeting women and children. By maintaining a strong presence in public areas, the force aims to reassure citizens and encourage safer use of public spaces.
The initiative is also intended to support a people-driven movement for a women- and child-friendly society . Authorities believe that active community participation, combined with focused policing, can contribute significantly to creating a safer social environment.
In addition to preventing harassment in public places, the force will work closely with local communities and law enforcement agencies to identify safety concerns and implement corrective measures wherever required.
The launch ceremony will be held at the Rajarathinam Stadium in Egmore, Chennai , at 5 pm. Director General of Police Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal and other senior government and police officials are expected to attend the event.
The Tamil Nadu government views the Singappen Special Force as an important initiative aimed at enhancing public safety and ensuring better protection for women and children throughout the state.
