Tragic Wedding: Groom Brutally Killed by Bride’s Brothers

In a chilling incident suspected to be an honour killing , a 41-year-old man was allegedly stoned to death by his wife’s brothers just hours after their secret wedding in Dwarapudi village of East Godavari district.

The victim, Polipalli Suryaprakash, had married Sandhya, 40, in a private ceremony on Thursday after facing strong family opposition . The couple, who had known each other since their school days, reportedly tied the knot without informing relatives due to lack of consent from the bride’s family.

According to Rajamahendravaram East Zone DSP B. Divya, Sandhya works at the Mandal Revenue Office, while Suryaprakash assisted in his father’s textile business. Police suspect that social and financial differences may have triggered the attack.

After the ceremony, Sandhya shared their wedding photographs with her brothers. Later that night, the couple arrived at Suryaprakash’s residence in Dwarapudi. As the house was locked, they were waiting outside when her brothers allegedly confronted them.

In a sudden assault, Suryaprakash was attacked with stones and repeatedly struck on the head, causing severe bleeding. He collapsed at the scene and died before medical help could arrive.

Police rushed to the spot, shifted the body for post-mortem examination , and launched a manhunt to apprehend the accused. Officials confirmed that the case is being probed from the honour killing angle .

The brutal incident has left the village in deep shock and mourning.
