Trump Repeats Claim of Mediating India-Pak Conflict, Says 11 Jets Were Downed

US President Donald Trump has once again claimed that he played a key role in ending the military confrontation between India and Pakistan last year, while also asserting that 11 aircraft were shot down during the four-day hostilities.

Speaking aboard Air Force One on Wednesday, Trump said he deserved the Nobel Peace Prize for helping settle several international conflicts, including the India-Pakistan standoff. He described the confrontation as a situation that "was going to be nuclear" and said his efforts helped prevent a much larger tragedy.

Trump did not provide details about the alleged loss of 11 aircraft, nor did he clarify whether the figure referred to Indian, Pakistani, or combined losses.

The conflict erupted after India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 , targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan-controlled territories following the Pahalgam terror attack . The military exchanges continued for four days before both sides agreed on May 10 to halt further military action.

India has consistently rejected Trump's assertions of third-party mediation. New Delhi maintains that the cessation of hostilities resulted from direct communication between the Indian and Pakistani militaries , without any involvement from the United States.

Trump also said that Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had thanked him for helping avert a conflict that could have endangered millions of lives.
