TVS Launches Apache Junior Programme to Develop Young Motorcycle Racing Talent

TVS Motor Company has launched the TVS Apache Junior Programme, a first of its kind grassroots initiative aimed at identifying and nurturing young motorcycle racing talent in India by handing over 10 purpose built TVS Apache RR 200 Mini motorcycles to the Madras Motor Sports Club (MMSC) in Chennai. The programme targets children aged 10 to 14 years and will offer structured training at the Madras International Karting Arena (MIKA) under experienced instructors and TVS Racing champions. The motorcycles will be available on rent, making professional racing training more accessible.

Participants will be trained in racing fundamentals including discipline, precision, control and safety, before progressing to the TVS One Make Championship Rookie category from the age of 15 under FMSCI regulations, followed by the RR 310 Expert class and eventually international racing opportunities. TVS said the programme creates a structured talent pipeline from grassroots training to global competition.

The dedicated Apache RR 200 Mini is a lightweight, track only race motorcycle weighing 90 kg. It is powered by a 197.75 cc single cylinder engine producing 23 PS and 20.1 Nm, paired with race tuned components including fully adjustable USD front forks, a rear monoshock, 12 inch racing tyres, clip on handlebars, a free flow exhaust and a claimed top speed of 110 kmph. The motorcycle is built exclusively for rider development and is not road legal.

Vimal Sumbly, Head of Premium Business at TVS Motor Company, said the initiative addresses the lack of structured pre competition training before the minimum racing age of 15 and aims to create globally competitive Indian riders. The launch builds on TVS Racing's four decade motorsport legacy and coincides with the 20th anniversary of the Apache brand, which now has more than seven million riders across 90 countries.
