Two Alleged Lawrence Bishnoi Gang Shooters Killed in Haryana Police Encounter

Two alleged shooters associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang were killed in a police encounter in Bahadurgarh, Haryana , after they allegedly opened fire on a police team attempting to intercept them based on specific intelligence, officials said on Sunday.

According to police, the suspects, Pravesh and Himanshu , were wanted in connection with the June 11 murder of Hansi gym owner Kapil and carried a reward of ₹1 lakh each . They were intercepted shortly after midnight by Haryana Police's Special Task Force (STF) following intelligence shared by the Delhi Police Counter-Intelligence Special Cell .

Police said the duo allegedly fired at the STF team, injuring a constable in the foot. The police retaliated, injuring both suspects, who were taken to a hospital and declared brought dead .

The encounter follows weeks of investigation into Kapil's killing. Police said the gym owner was conducting an outdoor fitness session when two bike-borne assailants shot him dead in Hansi. CCTV footage of the attack later surfaced on social media, prompting an intensified investigation.

Investigators identified Pravesh and Himanshu as the principal shooters allegedly involved in the murder. Police believe the attack was carried out on behalf of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang , a criminal network accused in multiple cases of extortion, contract killings, organised crime, and cross-border operations across several states.

Authorities said the breakthrough came after coordinated intelligence-sharing between Haryana Police and the Delhi Police Special Cell. Further investigation is underway to identify other conspirators, establish the motive behind the killing, and determine whether additional members of the gang were involved in planning or facilitating the attack.

Police identified Pravesh as a resident of Tibba Danasher and Himanshu as a resident of Jakhod Khera , both in Hisar district .
