The UK government on Monday announced new deals worth £1 billion as more than 100 British businesses arrived in India on a major trade mission aimed at expanding commercial opportunities under the bilateral free trade agreement.

Led by UK Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds, the delegation includes Scotland Secretary Douglas Alexander, Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Secretary Angela Eagle and seven mayors from Northern England. The visit comes nearly three months after the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) was implemented on July 15.

The UK government said the latest announcements bring the value of deals unveiled since the agreement was signed in July 2025 to nearly £12 billion. Among the key developments, Meta for Data Technologies announced a £50 million investment to support artificial intelligence research in the UK. Aviation services company Menzies Aviation aims to generate more than £600 million in revenue through its expanded presence in India.

Other deals include partnerships secured by London-based AI startup Asika with multiple Hyderabad hospital groups to reduce administrative workloads. Organicco has advanced Indian export opportunities estimated at £2 million, while engineering consultancy Arup secured a £1.4 million Mumbai Metro design review contract, with a potential project pipeline of £7 million.

Reynolds said the trade agreement had opened doors for regional businesses to build partnerships, generate employment and drive economic growth. The delegation represents sectors ranging from advanced manufacturing and education to agriculture, food and beverages.

During the visit, Reynolds is scheduled to meet Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal in Delhi and co-chair the UK-India Joint Economic and Trade Committee. He will also co-chair the UK-India Science and Innovation Council with Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh.

In Mumbai, Reynolds will meet Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to discuss closer regional economic cooperation. The UK government estimates that the trade agreement could boost bilateral trade by £25.5 billion annually in the long term, creating opportunities for businesses and exporters in both countries.
