Ukrainian forces have carried out a fresh wave of long range strikes deep inside Russia , targeting a major natural gas processing facility and two important satellite communication centres , according to Ukraine’s military leadership.

The General Staff of Ukraine said the overnight operation struck the Orenburg Gas Processing Plant , one of the largest gas complexes in the world. The facility, located more than 1,200 kilometres from the front line, is part of a wider industrial system that includes Russia’s only helium production unit .

According to the Ukrainian military statement shared on Telegram, the strike triggered a fire at the site . The plant is considered strategically important as it produces materials such as helium , used in rocket systems and guidance technologies, along with ethane , which is used in the production of fuel components and explosives related materials.

Ukrainian officials also claimed responsibility for attacks on two satellite communication centres used by Russian military systems. These include the Dubna Space Communications Centre near Moscow, described as Russia’s largest ground based satellite facility, and another installation in the Vladimir region .

The General Staff did not specify whether drones or missiles were used in the operation, though recent Ukrainian long range strikes have heavily relied on drone technology to reach deep targets inside Russian territory.

The latest attacks come as Ukraine continues to expand its campaign against Russian energy and military infrastructure , including repeated strikes on occupied Crimea . Ukrainian officials say these operations are aimed at disrupting supply lines, weakening military logistics, and increasing pressure on Moscow.

In a parallel development, local authorities in Crimea reported disruptions after drone strikes caused power outages in parts of Sevastopol . Ukrainian security services also claimed strikes on military airfields and missile systems in the peninsula.

On the Russian side, the Defence Ministry said its air defence systems intercepted and destroyed hundreds of Ukrainian drones overnight. Meanwhile, Ukrainian air force officials reported that Russia launched more than a hundred long range attack drones in the same period.

The exchange highlights the continuing escalation of aerial warfare between the two sides as both Ukraine and Russia intensify strikes on strategic infrastructure far from the front lines.
