Ukraine Targets Crimean Bridge Logistics, Russia Stops Civilian Fuel Sales in Crimea

Russian authorities in occupied Crimea have suspended gasoline sales to civilians and private businesses after a new wave of Ukrainian drone strikes targeted fuel depots, logistics corridors and energy infrastructure supporting Russian operations in the Black Sea region. The move comes amid the most severe fuel crisis in Crimea since Russia annexed the peninsula in 2014.

Crimea's Kremlin appointed leader Sergey Aksyonov said overnight attacks killed four people and injured 28 others. He announced that fuel would be supplied only to government agencies, emergency services and security forces for an indefinite period. Authorities had already introduced rationing measures in late May, limiting motorists to 20 litres of fuel per week through coupon based systems, with long queues reported across the peninsula.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said a Crimean oil depot and an oil transport facility in Russia's Krasnodar region were among the latest targets. Calling the strikes part of Ukraine's "long range sanctions" campaign, Zelenskyy said Russia understands "only strength" and asserted that attacks on logistics routes linked to the Crimean Bridge were weakening Moscow's military supply network.

Russian officials reported a major fire at the Chushka oil terminal near the Kerch Strait after a drone attack. Some reports said ferry operations were disrupted and five people were killed in attacks affecting fuel and transport infrastructure on both sides of the strait.

The latest strikes are part of Ukraine's broader campaign against Russian energy assets. Recent Ukrainian drone operations have hit oil refineries, fuel depots and military logistics facilities deep inside Russia, including strategic sites more than 2,000 kilometres from the battlefield. Analysts say the campaign is exposing vulnerabilities in Russia's supply chains while increasing pressure on Moscow's war economy.
