Ultra-White Gyr Falcon Chick Fetches Record Dh1.5 Million at Abu Dhabi Exhibition

A rare ultra-white Gyr falcon chick has created a new benchmark in the world of falconry after being sold for a record Dh1.5 million at the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX) 2026.

The Qarmousha Pure Ultra White Gyr, bred in the United States, commanded the record price during the 23rd edition of ADIHEX, which is being held from August 28 to September 6 at the ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi.

The sale is part of the exhibition’s biggest auction programme to date, bringing together 55 falcon farms. The event has once again placed Abu Dhabi at the centre of international falconry, showcasing prized birds while highlighting the cultural traditions surrounding the sport.

ADIHEX is being organised with the Emirates Falconers’ Club under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Beyond the auction arena, the exhibition also focuses on preserving and passing on traditional Emirati skills to younger generations.

ADNEC Managing Director and Group CEO Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri described the record sale as a reflection of Abu Dhabi’s leading role in falconry and its wider efforts to safeguard the UAE’s cultural heritage.

The exhibition features family-oriented workshops that offer visitors an opportunity to experience traditional practices, including Al Sadu weaving and the preparation of Arabic coffee.

With the record-breaking falcon sale drawing attention, ADIHEX 2026 is highlighting how falconry continues to combine heritage, craftsmanship and modern international participation, keeping one of the region’s most distinctive cultural traditions firmly in the spotlight.
