Unidentified Man Steals KSRTC Bus in Palakkad, Damages Shop and House Wall

An unidentified man allegedly stole a parked Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus from near the Palakkad depot in the early hours of Sunday, drove it recklessly through parts of the town, and damaged private property before abandoning the vehicle, police said.

According to police, the incident occurred around 2.50 am when the accused drove away an ordinary service KSRTC bus that had been parked outside the depot. During the unauthorized drive, the bus reportedly rammed into a house compound wall and a shop , causing damage to both structures. The vehicle also sustained damage in the incident.

The bus was later found abandoned by the roadside near Mangalam Towers in Palakkad city on Sunday morning.

Police said CCTV footage from various parts of the city is being collected and examined to identify and trace the suspect. A case has been registered with Palakkad South Police , and an investigation is underway.

Officials also noted that similar incidents involving the unauthorised driving of parked KSRTC buses have been reported in other parts of the state in the past.
