Union Minister for Coal and Mines and Telangana BJP president G. Kishan Reddy on Saturday launched a sharp attack on Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy , alleging that his recent statements on the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls were aimed at creating fear among Muslims and obstructing the voter verification exercise.

Addressing a press conference in Hyderabad, Kishan Reddy claimed that the Chief Minister was linking the electoral revision process with religion and making remarks that could potentially disturb law and order in the state. He alleged that Revanth Reddy's comments were intended to create apprehensions among Muslim voters regarding the revision of electoral rolls.

The Union Minister also accused the AIMIM of preventing Booth Level Officers (BLOs) from conducting door-to-door verification in parts of Hyderabad's Old City. According to him, AIMIM leaders have been pressuring officials by insisting that residents submit pre-filled forms instead of allowing field verification. He further alleged that both the Congress and BRS were supporting the AIMIM's stand on the issue.

Kishan Reddy said the SIR process was being carried out by government employees and questioned why the Congress government was casting doubts on a procedure being implemented through its own administrative machinery. He accused opposition parties of spreading misinformation and attempting to undermine public confidence in the exercise.

The BJP leader also raised concerns over the alleged presence of Rohingyas and illegal immigrants from Pakistan and Bangladesh in certain parts of Hyderabad. He claimed that some of them had obtained voter identity cards, ration cards and other official documents, adding that the Election Commission had a responsibility to identify and remove such irregularities from the electoral rolls.

Referring to alleged threats faced by BLOs in the Old City, Kishan Reddy assured government employees that the BJP would stand by officials carrying out their duties and urged them not to succumb to political pressure.

He also criticised what he described as the dependence of Congress and BRS on AIMIM support for electoral gains and accused them of engaging in vote-bank politics . Questioning Congress leaders' opposition to the SIR process, he asked why similar exercises conducted in other states had not attracted the same criticism.
