A woman in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh, has accused the father of a trainee IPS officer of allegedly giving instructions for firing at her home during a dispute over land. A case has now been registered on her complaint, police said.

The woman, Shobhana Shukla, said she bought land on Adhauri Bypass in 2018 for around Rs 1.5 crore. She said she built a house on part of the plot and has been living there with her family. She also claimed to be in possession of the remaining land.

Shukla alleged that Vipin Bajpai, father of the trainee IPS officer, also claims the property. According to her, his claim is based on a sale deed registered by his father in 2022.

The land dispute has continued since then. Shukla said a decision by Maholi tehsil authorities about two months ago supported her ownership claim. She alleged that the other side still tried to take possession of the land.

The matter turned violent on Sunday when around 24 to 25 people allegedly reached her house in a vehicle. Shukla claimed they abused her and then opened fire.

In a video shared with the media, she accused Vipin Bajpai of allegedly directing the firing. She claimed the group was sent to threaten her and help take control of the disputed property.

Police reached the spot after receiving information about the firing and recovered empty cartridges. Several suspects were detained for questioning.

Maholi Circle Officer Nagendra Choubey said the woman had submitted a written complaint and a case had been registered. He said the police were investigating the firing and all other allegations.

Choubey said the matter involves a land dispute between two sides and that cases linked to the property are already pending in court. He added that the Maholi police station in-charge is conducting a detailed investigation and further action will depend on its findings.

The allegations against Vipin Bajpai have not been established. Police are examining the complaint, the evidence found at the scene and the claims made by both sides.
