Fijian golfing legend Vijay Singh won the SAS Championship on Sunday, October 18, becoming one of the oldest players to claim a title on the PGA Tour Champions. The 63-year-old finished with a two-shot victory after carding a three-under-par 69 in the final round.

Singh completed the tournament at nine-under-par 207, recording three consecutive rounds of 69 at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary, North Carolina. He made four birdies during a six-hole stretch around the turn to move ahead of a crowded leaderboard before closing with six consecutive pars to secure the title.

The victory marked Singh’s sixth PGA Tour Champions title and his first in just over three years. It was also his first victory of the 2026 season, following 16 starts without a win. A 34-time winner on the regular PGA Tour, Singh had not recorded a top-10 finish on the senior circuit this year before his triumph.

Singh admitted that the victory was particularly meaningful after a difficult season affected by back problems and inconsistent form. He said the cold weather had troubled his back and that his iron play had not been as good as he wanted, but he was pleased to get the job done.

Ernie Els finished runner-up at seven-under-par 209 after shooting a 69 in the final round. Tim O’Neal was also in contention until the par-five 17th hole, where his shot from a fairway bunker struck the lip and rolled into a creek. He subsequently recorded a double bogey and a bogey.

Singh’s achievement placed him among the oldest winners in PGA Tour Champions history. Bernhard Langer, who won at 67, remains the oldest player to win on the over-50 circuit.

The tournament carried a reported prize purse of $2.3 million. Meanwhile, Matthew Goggin was the only player to move into the top 72 qualifying positions for the Charles Schwab Cup postseason, scheduled to begin in St. Louis the following week.
