Vijay to Make First Official Foreign Visit, Embark on Week-Long London Tour via Dubai

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay will undertake his first official foreign visit from September 10 to 16, travelling to London via Dubai as part of the state government's efforts to attract investments, according to sources.

Vijay will depart from Chennai International Airport on Thursday night on an Emirates commercial flight to Dubai before continuing to London. A high-level delegation comprising state government officials, departmental secretaries and personal aides will accompany him.

The visit has been organised by the Tamil Nadu Industries Department, with the state government bearing the expenses. An advanced security team and personal assistants have already travelled to Dubai to coordinate arrangements.

During the London visit, Vijay is scheduled to meet business leaders and prospective investors and participate in investment-related engagements, according to officials familiar with the programme.

The state government has said that investment commitments crossed ₹1 lakh crore during Vijay's first 100 days in office. At the Vettri Tamil Nadu Investors' Conclave held in Chennai on August 13, 97 MoUs involving ₹67,452 crore were signed, with the projects expected to generate more than one lakh jobs.

The MoUs cover sectors including automobiles, renewable energy, electronics, data centres, life sciences, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and semiconductors.

Ahead of Vijay's departure, a multi-agency security and protocol meeting was held at Chennai Airport on Wednesday to review security arrangements and other logistics for the overseas visit.
