
Vishvanath Suresh, Chandrika To Lead India’s Campaign At U-19 & U-23 Asian Boxing C'hips
Reigning Asian Champion Vishvanath Suresh (50kg) and World Boxing Futures Cup gold medallist Chandrika Bhoresh Pujari (51kg) will lead India’s challenge at the U-19 and U-23 Asian Boxing Championships , beginning in Jakarta on Friday.
The Boxing Federation of India (BFI) has named a strong and balanced squad across both age groups, aiming to provide India’s young boxers with exposure against the continent’s top talent. The championships are seen as an important platform for assessing India’s emerging boxing pipeline.
In the men’s U-23 category , Vishvanath heads a competitive lineup that includes Ganga (55kg), Sagar Jakhar (60kg), Vanshaj (65kg), Hitesh (70kg), Neeraj (75kg), Aryan Malik (80kg), Rocky Chaudhary (85kg), Hemant Sangwan (90kg), and Ishan Kataria (+90kg). The squad reflects depth across multiple weight divisions, strengthening India’s medal prospects.
The women’s U-23 team is led by Nidhi (48kg) and Tanu (51kg), supported by Nisha (54kg) and Prachi (57kg). Other squad members include Nikita Chand (60kg), Kajal (65kg), Shivani (70kg), Muskan (75kg), Naina (80kg), and Priyanka (+80kg), forming a comprehensive unit across weight categories.
In the U-19 girls’ section , Chandrika Bhoresh Pujari leads the charge alongside Gunjan (48kg), Chirom Joyshree Devi (54kg), and Prachi (57kg). These young boxers will aim to make their mark at the continental level.
The U-19 boys’ squad features promising talent such as Lairenlakpam Ambekar Meetei (50kg), Aditya (55kg), and Sikander (60kg), among others, representing India’s next generation of fighters.
The team has been undergoing an intensive national camp , with emphasis on technical refinement, conditioning, and tactical execution to prepare for the high-intensity competition.
The championships will be a key test for India’s young boxers as they look to transition successfully from national to international success.
