Vishwak Sen is returning to the director’s chair with 'Cult', an intense slasher film that promises violence, bloodshed and high octane action. The makers have now announced that the film will release in theatres on October 30, with a new action promo offering a glimpse into its violent world.

The latest promo features Vishwak Sen taking on his opponents in brutal action sequences and highlights the intensity of his character. The film is being touted as India’s first slasher film, adding to the curiosity around its unusual genre and violent premise.

The teaser released a few months ago had already hinted at the film’s dark setting. The story revolves around a deadly situation involving a private party and a game in which those who lose face brutal consequences. Another recent report describes three friends travelling to a club before being attacked by a mysterious group, with Vishwak Sen’s character stepping in to save them through his fighting skills.

The October 30 release also places 'Cult' close to the Diwali period, with the festival falling the following weekend. The makers are positioning the film as a high intensity action experience aimed at audiences looking for something different.

Vishwak Sen returns to filmmaking after directing 'Falaknuma Das' and 'Das Ka Dhamki'. With 'Cult', he takes on both the director’s and lead actor’s responsibilities, while the film’s action driven premise marks another departure in his filmography.

The film stars Gayatri Bharadwaj, Tarak Ponnapa, Murali Sharma, Srikanth Iyengar, Karthikeya, Anirudh Bhaskar, Ezy, Yagnya Turlapati, Kabeer Bhartiya, Vishak Nair and Chepuri Vivek in key roles.

'Cult' is produced by Tarak Cinemas and Vanmaye Creations, with Ravi Basrur composing the music. The film is expected to arrive with a strong focus on action, suspense and its slasher elements.
