Megastar Chiranjeevi’s ‘Vishwambhara’ has been facing prolonged delays, mainly due to its extensive VFX work and pending post production. While the film was initially expected to arrive much earlier, its release plans have continued to change.

A recent buzz suggested that ‘Vishwambhara’ could target the Sankranthi 2027 season, potentially forcing Chiranjeevi’s upcoming film ‘Kaaka’ to move out of the festival slot. However, the latest industry reports indicate that a Sankranthi release for ‘Vishwambhara’ may not be the most likely scenario.

According to recent reports, ‘Vishwambhara’ is now looking at summer 2027 as the safer release window. The team is said to be working towards completing the remaining VFX and other post production work, while the OTT deal is also reportedly yet to be finalised. Another possibility that was discussed was a Christmas 2026 release, but summer 2027 appears to be gaining more traction as a practical option.

Meanwhile, Chiranjeevi and director Bobby Kolli’s ‘Kaaka’ is currently scheduled for January 13, 2027, during the Sankranthi season. The film has also been actively promoted, with the makers recently introducing Anaswara Rajan as Ammulu Paapa, describing her character as the heart of the movie.

The current release calendar also has several major films lined up for Sankranthi 2027, including ‘January 12 Vidudala’ and ‘Sambarala Yeti Gattu’ on January 12, followed by ‘Kaaka’ on January 13.

For now, there is no confirmed announcement that ‘Vishwambhara’ will replace ‘Kaaka’ for Sankranthi 2027. If the summer plan holds, ‘Kaaka’ could retain its Sankranthi slot, while ‘Vishwambhara’ may arrive later in 2027. The final decision will depend on the film’s post production progress and Chiranjeevi’s release strategy.
