Warangal Airport Tenders in Two Weeks, Foundation Stone Planned by December

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has sought the Centre’s support in accelerating key aviation infrastructure projects in the state, with a focus on the proposed airports at Adilabad and Mamnoor in Warangal.

During a meeting with Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu at Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan in New Delhi, the Chief Minister discussed a range of proposals aimed at strengthening Telangana’s air connectivity and expanding aviation-related infrastructure.

Revanth Reddy said the state government had completed the land acquisition process for Mamnoor airport and handed over the required land to the Centre. He urged the Union government to move quickly on construction and ensure that the project is completed within the proposed timeframe.

Responding to the request, Ram Mohan Naidu said tenders for the Warangal airport project would be invited within the next two weeks. The tender process is expected to be finalised by December, with plans to lay the foundation stone for the project in the same month.

The Chief Minister also pressed for the development of Adilabad airport with both passenger and cargo-handling facilities. He proposed the creation of an MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) facility to support aircraft maintenance, repairs and servicing. Revanth Reddy further requested a joint meeting of officials from the Defence and Civil Aviation departments to resolve issues related to finalising the airport’s runway.

Apart from conventional airport development, the meeting also focused on new possibilities for improving tourism connectivity. Revanth Reddy sought Central assistance to promote heli-tourism in Telangana, saying helicopter routes could improve access to important tourist destinations and give a fresh push to the state’s tourism industry.

Civil Aviation Ministry officials also informed the Telangana government that a report on the feasibility of sea-plane operations at Hussain Sagar in Hyderabad would be submitted within two weeks.

MPs Anil Kumar Yadav and Suresh Shetkar, state government Protocol Adviser Harkara Venugopal Rao, Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju, Chief Minister’s Secretary Manik Raj, and other officials were present at the meeting.
