“What Is Your Rate?” Bengaluru Man Arrested After Woman Shares Cab Waiting Harassment Video

A man has been arrested in Bengaluru after a woman alleged that she was sexually harassed while waiting for a cab in Ramamurthy Nagar, with police registering an FIR following her complaint and a video she shared on Instagram.

The incident reportedly occurred when the woman was standing by the roadside waiting for her cab. According to her complaint, a scooter rider approached her and allegedly made obscene remarks and inappropriate propositions. She claimed the man asked her, “What is your rate?”, and allegedly offered money in exchange for sexual favors.

The woman recorded the interaction on her mobile phone as she confronted the accused. In the video shared online, she can be seen questioning his behaviour and warning him that she would approach the police. The accused allegedly continued making remarks before leaving the spot.

The woman later posted the video on Instagram seeking help in identifying the man. She said women should be able to wait for transport without being subjected to harassment or intimidation.

“ As a woman, I should be able to wait for my cab without being treated like an object or being propositioned for money. His words were intimidating, disrespectful, and made me fear for my safety, ” she wrote in her post.

Following the viral video and her complaint, Bengaluru police traced the accused and arrested him. A senior police officer confirmed, “ We have registered an FIR and arrested the accused. ”

The case has triggered discussions on women’s safety in public spaces, especially incidents involving harassment during daily travel. Police said further investigation into the allegations is underway.
