AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Friday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to publicly condemn the recent attack on Iran by the US and Israel , accusing the government of abandoning India’s long-standing neutral stance on the Israel-Palestine issue.

Addressing a gathering at the historic Makkah Masjid , Owaisi took a sharp dig at Modi, remarking that the Prime Minister only remembered his famed “56-inch chest” when talks with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian involved matters of gas and petroleum. “ Why is India taking sides? You should condemn the attack on Iran. You should condemn what happened in Doha, Dubai, Bahrain, Kuwait,” he said, questioning India’s alignment with Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu.

Owaisi recalled that India has historically supported Palestinians and maintained a neutral foreign policy for over eight decades. He stressed that Modi should have made his stance clear well before the attacks, stating, “ Attacking another country violates international law. India should have called out these actions immediately, not belatedly.

He also criticized Modi’s recent visit to Israel , suggesting it coincided suspiciously with Netanyahu’s international isolation. Owaisi went further, alleging that Modi received a non-existent award in Israel’s parliament, calling it an insult.

Turning to domestic issues, Owaisi condemned attempts to impose a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) , asserting that Hindu laws cannot be forced upon Muslims . He raised concerns over reported incidents of hatred and violence against Muslims , highlighting demolitions of Muslim homes in Varanasi , Modi’s constituency.

He also condemned the attack on National Conference president and former Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah , emphasizing that acts of intimidation against political leaders are unacceptable in a democracy.

Owaisi concluded by warning against conspiracies aimed at dividing the Islamic community, reiterating his demand for India to uphold justice both internationally and at home.
