Who are Massi Tigga and Kiran Nagadwar? Two Wanted TSPC Maoists Arrested in Jharkhand

Massi Tigga and Kiran Nagadwar , two alleged members of the banned Tritiya Sammelan Prastuti Committee (TSPC) , a splinter group of the CPI (Maoist) , have been arrested by Jharkhand Police during an anti Maoist operation in Chatra district. The duo, wanted in multiple criminal cases involving extortion and arson, were apprehended near Kalyanpur village under the Piparwar Police Station limits.

Police identified the accused as Massi Tigga (29) , a resident of Khandhar village, and Kiran Nagadwar (45) of Chirlounga village under the Tandwa Police Station area. Acting on operational inputs, security personnel conducted a raid near Kalyanpur village on Monday and arrested both men without incident.

According to Tandwa Sub Divisional Police Officer Prabhat Ranjan Barwar , both accused have long criminal histories and were allegedly involved in extortion and arson activities linked to the banned outfit. Police said the duo had been absconding in connection with two cases registered on August 5, 2025 , under the Arms Act and the Criminal Law Amendment (CLA) Act .

Investigators said Massi Tigga is facing at least 10 criminal cases registered across Chatra and Ranchi districts, while Kiran Nagadwar is wanted in four criminal cases . The pending cases include offences related to extortion, arson, and other activities allegedly carried out on behalf of the TSPC.

The Tritiya Sammelan Prastuti Committee (TSPC) is a banned armed outfit that emerged as a breakaway faction of the CPI (Maoist) and has operated in parts of Jharkhand for years. The group has been accused by security agencies of running extortion networks and carrying out violent attacks in mining and rural areas. Police have intensified operations against Maoist factions and their splinter groups as part of ongoing efforts to curb insurgent activities in the state.
