Why Did The US Quietly Delist Four Indian Companies, Including Two Hyderabad Firms?

The United States has quietly removed four Indian companies, including two based in Hyderabad, from its Russia-related sanctions list, lifting restrictions imposed over allegations that they supplied advanced technology and equipment supporting Russia's military industrial base. The companies have been deleted from the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons (SDN) List as part of the US Treasury's latest sanctions update.

The delisted firms are Hyderabad-based RRG Engineering Technologies Private Limited and Lokesh Machines Limited , Ahmedabad-based Galaxy Bearings Limited , and New Delhi-based Shaurya Aeronautics Private Limited . They were sanctioned in 2024 under Executive Order 14024 , which targets entities accused of supporting Russia's military industrial base following Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.

Galaxy Bearings had been accused of exporting dozens of high priority dual use items, including roller bearings and roller assemblies, to Russian entities. Shaurya Aeronautics allegedly supplied radar apparatus, radio navigational aid equipment, radio remote control apparatus and other electrical equipment to Russia. According to earlier US allegations, RRG Engineering Technologies shipped more than 100 consignments of microelectronics to Russia-based Arteks Limited Company, while Lokesh Machines exported dozens of machine tools to Russian manufacturers.

However, the US Treasury has not disclosed why the four companies were removed from the sanctions list. Neither the Indian government nor the four companies had issued an official statement on the delisting at the time of publication.

The move came as part of a broader OFAC sanctions update that also imposed fresh restrictions on individuals and entities linked to Mexican drug trafficking networks, although those actions were unrelated to the Indian companies.
