"Words Can't Explain It": Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Reacts To Dream India Call-Up
Teen batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has described his selection in India's T20 squad for the upcoming tours of Ireland and England as the fulfilment of a lifelong dream, saying the moment is beyond words.
The 15-year-old earned his maiden national call-up after a historic IPL 2026 campaign with Rajasthan Royals , scoring 776 runs at a strike rate exceeding 230 . While high run aggregates are often associated with consistency and not outright aggression, Sooryavanshi combined both, finishing as the season's leading run-scorer while maintaining the most destructive scoring rate among the top batters, a feat virtually unprecedented in IPL history.
Speaking in a video shared by the BCCI on social media, Sooryavanshi said representing India had always been his ultimate goal.
"Words can't explain it. The reason I picked up a bat from day one and went to the cricket ground for practice, and today that dream is fulfilled," he said.
Calling the selection the biggest milestone of his cricket journey so far , the young batter admitted he was overwhelmed by the emotions surrounding the achievement.
Sooryavanshi's rise has been remarkable. Hailing from Samastipur in Bihar , he first captured national attention during IPL 2025 when he smashed a blistering 38-ball 101 against Gujarat Titans . At 14 years and 32 days , he became the youngest centurion in T20 cricket , a record that still stands.
The left-handed batter is now on the verge of another historic achievement. If he features in any of India's matches against Ireland or England, he could become the youngest player to represent India in international cricket , surpassing the record held by Sachin Tendulkar , who made his debut at the age of 16 years and 205 days.
Reflecting on receiving his India jersey, Sooryavanshi said seeing his name printed on the national team's shirt felt unreal.
"I couldn't stop smiling," he said, adding that some moments are so special that one does not know how to react when they finally arrive.
