
Xi Jinping Offers Full Support to Bangladesh's New Government During Rahman's Visit
Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday reaffirmed Beijing's support for Bangladesh's new government during talks with visiting Prime Minister Tarique Rahman , pledging to deepen cooperation across infrastructure, technology and sustainable development.
The meeting, held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on the final day of Rahman's five-day visit, underscored the growing strategic partnership between the two countries.
According to China's state-run Xinhua news agency, Xi said Beijing supports Bangladesh's new administration in ensuring smooth governance and is ready to advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation with Dhaka. He also expressed China's willingness to jointly identify key areas of collaboration and expand partnerships in green and low-carbon development, the digital economy, information technology, artificial intelligence , and other emerging sectors.
Earlier in the day, Rahman met Zhao Leji , Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, where both sides discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral ties.
On Thursday, Rahman held talks with Chinese Premier Li Qiang , following which the two countries signed 13 agreements aimed at enhancing cooperation in multiple sectors.
The two sides also agreed to strengthen collaboration on the management of the Teesta and other rivers after a separate meeting between Rahman and Chinese Water Resources Minister Li Guoying .
Rahman's visit highlights the continued expansion of China-Bangladesh relations , with both nations seeking closer cooperation in infrastructure, technology, water resource management and economic development.
