
Yogi Adityanath Courts Singapore and Japan Investors to Power UP’s Industrial Push
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is on a two nation visit to Singapore and Japan , aiming to position Uttar Pradesh as a major global investment destination with emphasis on infrastructure, manufacturing, logistics and green energy . Officials described the tour as focused investment diplomacy to attract long term capital and industrial partnerships.
During his Singapore leg, Adityanath met President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and discussed cooperation in infrastructure development, innovation, skill training and sustainable growth . Singapore, one of the largest sources of foreign direct investment into India , is viewed as a gateway for global capital. The Chief Minister pitched opportunities in urban planning, industrial parks, smart cities and supply chain management , sectors where Singapore has strong expertise.
The Chief Minister later travelled to Tokyo , where he addressed the Uttar Pradesh Investment Roadshow , highlighting that Uttar Pradesh has nearly tripled its Gross State Domestic Product over the past nine years and is emerging as one of India’s fastest growing economies. He also underlined the state’s demographic advantage , noting that 56 per cent of the population is in the working age group.
In Tokyo, Adityanath met senior executives of Konoike Transport Co. Ltd to discuss expansion in logistics parks, warehousing and multimodal transport infrastructure , and invited the firm to explore medical devices manufacturing by leveraging the Dedicated Freight Corridor network and the Medical Devices Park in Uttar Pradesh. He also met the leadership of Suzuki Motor Corporation and Maruti Suzuki India Limited , including Toshihiro Suzuki , Kenichi Ayukawa , Koichi Suzuki , H. Takeuchi and Rahul Bharti . The discussions covered Suzuki’s plans to enter the renewable energy sector through a proposed Compressed Bio Gas plant in Uttar Pradesh, expansion of its supplier ecosystem , and the vision to double Maruti Suzuki’s production capacity in India from 20 lakh to 40 lakh vehicles annually . The Chief Minister offered land at competitive rates in the Bundelkhand Industrial Development Authority for renewable energy projects and suitable land parcels across Uttar Pradesh for developing auto clusters .
Adityanath also met Honda Motor Co. Ltd executives, who noted that nearly 30 per cent of Honda’s India investment is already in Uttar Pradesh, and discussed scope for further expansion. Separate meetings with Mitsui & Co , Denso Corporation , and JETRO focused on infrastructure collaboration, automotive and electronics manufacturing , and trade facilitation.
Emphasising cultural and civilisational links, the Chief Minister highlighted key Buddhist sites in Uttar Pradesh , including Sarnath and Kushinagar , which hold deep religious significance for Japan and support growing spiritual tourism . Officials said the Singapore–Japan tour seeks to blend capital, technology and cultural ties to accelerate Uttar Pradesh’s industrial and sustainable growth ambitions.
