'You Just Can't Beat It': Sachin Tendulkar Impressed by Michael Jackson Biopic
Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has expressed his admiration for the Hollywood biographical film 'Michael', which chronicles the life and musical journey of pop icon Michael Jackson. Tendulkar revealed that he thoroughly enjoyed watching the film during a Reddit Ask Me Anything (AMA) session on Tuesday, November 3.
Responding to a question about his latest theatrical experience, the former India captain recalled growing up listening to Jackson's music and praised the singer's enduring appeal. "I loved watching Michael. Grew up listening to his music, you just can't beat it," Tendulkar wrote during the interactive session, where he answered questions on several subjects, including cinema and his personal interests.
Directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by John Logan, 'Michael' explores Jackson's journey from his early musical beginnings with the Jackson 5 alongside his brothers in the 1960s to his iconic 'Bad' tour in the late 1980s. The film highlights the rise of one of the most influential entertainers in global music history.
Jackson's nephew Jaafar Jackson portrays the legendary pop star, while Juliano Valdi plays his younger version. Both actors made their film debuts with the project. Colman Domingo and Nia Long appear as Jackson's parents, Joe and Katherine, respectively.
Released in April 2026, the biopic has also paved the way for a potential sequel. Actor Miles Teller, who portrayed Jackson's lawyer-manager John Branca in the first instalment, confirmed in May that a follow-up was being planned.
Meanwhile, Tendulkar, widely regarded as one of cricket's greatest batters, enjoyed an international career spanning 1989 to 2013. He remains the only cricketer to have scored 100 international centuries, including 51 in Tests and 49 in ODIs. He finished with 15,921 Test runs and 18,426 ODI runs and was part of India's 2011 World Cup-winning team. He also became the first player to feature in 200 Test matches before retiring from international cricket in November 2013.
