
YouTuber Maridhas Detained by Chennai Cyber Crime Police Over TVK Govt Videos
Well-known YouTuber Maridhas was detained on Monday by a special team of the Chennai City Police Cyber Crime Wing for allegedly posting a series of videos that were critical of the TVK government, Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, and several state ministers and officials , police sources said.
According to officials, the Cyber Crime Department registered a case suo motu following what it described as continuous online content and commentary questioning the functioning of the state government. The specific sections under which the case has been filed have not yet been disclosed.
A special team from Chennai reportedly travelled to Madurai on Monday and detained Maridhas from his residence in Surya Nagar with assistance from the Madurai City Police. He is being taken to Chennai for further interrogation.
Police said the action is part of an ongoing investigation into the nature of the videos and their alleged impact, adding that full details of the charges will be shared after further legal scrutiny.
