YS Avinash Reddy Urges Gadkari to Fast-Track Key Road Projects in Kadapa

Kadapa MP YS Avinash Reddy on Wednesday met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and submitted a memorandum seeking the Centre's approval for a series of road and urban infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing connectivity and improving civic facilities in YSR Kadapa district.

The MP urged the Union Minister to approve the upgradation of the Muddanur–Kadapa road into a four-lane National Highway, stating that the project would significantly improve regional connectivity, facilitate the smoother movement of passengers and goods, and support the district's growing economic and commercial activities.

He also requested the widening of the road stretch between IRCON Circle and JMJ Circle in Kadapa city into a four-lane corridor. The proposal is intended to ease traffic congestion in one of the city's busiest urban stretches and accommodate the increasing volume of vehicles.

Besides road expansion, Avinash Reddy sought the Centre's assistance for improving urban infrastructure within the Kadapa Municipal Corporation limits. The memorandum proposed the construction of pedestrian footpaths, installation of a modern stormwater drainage system, and development of organised parking spaces using interlocking paver blocks along the IRCON Circle–ITI Circle stretch. These civic upgrades are expected to improve pedestrian safety, strengthen drainage infrastructure and ensure better traffic management in the city.

According to the MP's office, Nitin Gadkari gave a positive hearing to the proposals and assured that the Ministry would examine them in consultation with the concerned officials. He reportedly stated that the suggested works would be taken forward after completing the necessary technical and administrative procedures.

The proposals assume significance as the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) continues to expand India's highway network and modernise transport infrastructure to improve connectivity, logistics efficiency and regional development. Better road infrastructure in YSR Kadapa district is expected to strengthen links with neighbouring districts, reduce travel time and support trade, agriculture and industrial activity across the Rayalaseema region.
