YSR Congress Party president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has accused the coalition government in the state of attempting to suppress opposition voices after the party’s official Facebook page reportedly became inaccessible in India.

In a strongly worded statement posted on social media, Jagan alleged that the government was undermining democratic values and targeting platforms that question its functioning. He claimed that this was not an isolated incident but part of a broader effort to silence criticism and restrict the opposition’s reach among the public.

According to Jagan, the party’s official Instagram account was removed earlier this year, and the latest development involving its Facebook page reflects a continuing pattern of action against YSRCP’s digital presence. He described the move as an attack not merely on a political party but on freedom of expression and the democratic right to voice dissent.

The former chief minister alleged that opposition platforms were being targeted because they were exposing what he termed government failures, corruption, and administrative shortcomings. He argued that attempts to silence those raising uncomfortable questions were deeply troubling and contrary to democratic norms.

Jagan further claimed that individuals who questioned the government on issues such as expenditure related to Amaravati’s development , alleged irregularities in the DSC recruitment process , and concerns surrounding TTD ghee tenders were being subjected to false cases and pressure tactics. He also alleged that critical content was being systematically restricted online as part of a coordinated effort to curb scrutiny of the government.

Calling the trend dangerous, he warned that suppressing opposition voices could weaken democratic institutions and reduce public accountability. He maintained that a healthy democracy depends on open debate and the ability of citizens and political parties to question those in power.

Reaffirming his party’s resolve, Jagan said YSRCP would pursue the matter through legal and constitutional means . He asserted that the party would not yield to intimidation or censorship and would continue raising issues affecting the public.

Demanding the immediate restoration of the YSRCP’s official Facebook page , he said safeguarding democratic freedoms and constitutional principles was essential for protecting the rights of citizens and preserving a vibrant democratic system.
