YS Jagan Demands CBI Probe Into Alleged APPSC, DSC Irregularities
YSR Congress Party president and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has challenged Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Education Minister Nara Lokesh to agree to a CBI investigation into alleged irregularities surrounding APPSC examinations and DSC recruitments in Andhra Pradesh.
Jagan alleged that the government has been avoiding direct answers to questions over the DSC recruitment process and instead attacking those raising concerns. He questioned why the ruling coalition was reluctant to allow an independent investigation if there was nothing to hide.
One of the key issues raised by Jagan concerns Naveen, an outsourcing employee who was reportedly involved in the preparation of the DSC question paper. Jagan claimed that the government had acknowledged in the Assembly that Naveen secured the top position in the initial merit list. He questioned why his name was subsequently removed and a second merit list issued.
Jagan also sought an explanation over how Naveen could have appeared for certificate verification if he was not ultimately selected. The YSRCP has demanded a probe into sports quota appointments, the issuance of sports certificates and allegations that candidates were asked to pay large sums for government jobs. The party has also sought an investigation into audio recordings allegedly linked to such demands.
The former Chief Minister questioned the decision to entrust both question paper preparation and examination management to the same official. He argued that such an arrangement had not been followed in the previous history of AP DSC examinations and alleged that it created room for irregularities. The party has also questioned the absence of a separate DSC examination convener.
The opposition has raised similar concerns over an outsourcing employee of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) who later emerged as a district topper. YSRCP leaders alleged that the government's explanations regarding the person's appointment contained contradictions and demanded a detailed inquiry.
The party has stepped up its demand for a CBI probe and called for Lokesh's resignation, holding him responsible for the recruitment process. YSRCP MLCs staged a protest at the Legislative Council premises on August 17, led by Opposition Leader Botscha Satyanarayana, demanding a comprehensive investigation.
Earlier this month, YSRCP spokesperson and MLA Tatiparthi Chandrasekhar had also alleged irregularities in the DSC question paper and recruitment process and demanded a CBI inquiry.
Meanwhile, the YSRCP accused the coalition government of attempting to divert public attention from the DSC controversy by highlighting the Group-1 issue. The party alleged that the government was avoiding a detailed discussion in the Legislative Council because it feared that opposition members would raise questions about alleged lapses in the recruitment process.
