Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee President YS Sharmila has urged the state government to remain highly vigilant following reports of COVID-19 cases, COVID-like symptoms, and deaths in Kadapa district, warning that public health must be treated as the top priority.

In a post on social media platform X, Sharmila said the recent reports from Kadapa had caused concern among residents and required close monitoring by the authorities. She revealed that she had spoken with the district collector to review the situation and obtain details about the extent of infections, the preparedness of the public health system, and the measures being taken to address the emerging challenge.

Stressing the need for a proactive response, Sharmila called on the government to ensure early identification of symptomatic individuals and conduct timely testing to prevent any wider spread of the virus. She also urged authorities to keep adequate treatment facilities ready, including the establishment of special COVID care wards and the availability of necessary medical support for patients.

The Congress leader said the administration should continuously assess the situation and implement all required precautionary measures without delay. According to her, a strong and coordinated response from health officials would be essential to protect public safety and maintain confidence among citizens.

Sharmila also directed Congress leaders and party workers in Kadapa district to remain alert and actively support people in need. She asked them to pay particular attention to senior citizens, children, and individuals with chronic health conditions , as these groups are more vulnerable to complications from infectious diseases.

In addition, she encouraged party cadres to work in coordination with local authorities and help create greater public awareness about preventive measures, symptoms, and the importance of seeking timely medical care. Emphasising that public health concerns should rise above political differences, Sharmila called for a collective effort involving the government, health officials, community organisations, and citizens to ensure that COVID-19 does not spread again and that the health and safety of the public remain fully protected.
